Certification and Graduation
After the program concludes, all the trainees take their Magento Certification exam. Those that pass will be offered a position at Jola as a Junior Developer.
The first part of the program will be focused on giving the trainees a basic understanding of the technologies they will need to know, the tools they will be using as well as introducing the basic concepts of what a Magento Shop consists of, it’s file structure, database structure and codebase.
After the general training, trainees will have enough information about the Magento workflow and structure to choose what path they would like to study.
The course will offer 3 distinct paths defined below based on the development structure of Jola which will be presented to the trainees after general training. The trainees would choose one of the paths at that point and will be specialized for it for the remainder of the program.
At this point, the developers would be split into teams based on their chosen path and assigned to a Senior Team lead who will further their education as well as assign real tasks to them.
This path specializes in the User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) of the project. The main technologies of in this path are CSS3, Javascript and HTML.
Developers that choose this path will work closely with designers to understand the UX and UI of their project, they will be trained to pay attention to the small details and UX sugar Jola is known for.
These developers will be using the Mobile and Desktop design documents to finish their daily tasks.
They will be trained for the Magento Certified Frontend Developer exam.
This path is focused on making sure that the Frontend developer has all the necessary information available and in the correct place within the layout to finish their tasks as well as making sure that all the FE features that require a connection to the backend work correctly.
The main technologies of this path are React, HTML, Redux, and JS.
Developers that choose this path will work closely with the FE and BE developers as well as project managers, they will be trained to adapt the codebase to fit the needs of both FE and BE.
These developers will be using the Functional Description and Wireframe documents to finish their daily tasks.
They will be trained for the Magento Certified Javascript Developer exam. (This may change as Magento has indicated that there will be a PWA exam in the future)
This path is focused on manipulating the data from Magento as well as providing a connection from the frontend tech stack to Magento, creating endpoints, database structure and Admin controls.
The main technologies of this path are PHP, MySQL and GraphQL.
Developers that choose this path will be trained to create optimal solutions for storing, pulling and otherwise manipulating data, application security, server management and creating reusable, configurable code.
These developers will be using the Technical Specification document to finish their daily tasks.
They will be trained for the Magento Certified Associate Developer exam.
